Album Review by Vivienne Messenger
A diverse album featuring well known artists including Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Sting, P. Diddy and Brandy, THE WILD THORNBERRYS – OFFICIAL SOUNDTRACK also includes traditional African sounds with tracks from Wes with AKA AKA and Hugh Masekala with MOTLA LE PULA, to chart toppers Baha Men, Backstreet Boy Nick Carter and Sita.
Paul Simon opens with FATHER AND DAUGHTER, which even though it is his first composition for a feature film for 15 years is instantly recognisable – can it be that long! The very talented Sita sings the title track from her recently released album HAPPY. This is an excellent track, the best on this album – but there you go I’m a fan of Sita’s music anyway.
Peter Gabriel’s ANIMAL NATION and SHAKING THE TREE are in Gabriel’s unmistakable ilk. On the latter track Youssou N’Dour and Shaggy add their distinctive vocals. Both tracks have very catchy beats to them and I also liked the excellent DON’T WALK AWAY by Youssou N’Dour featuring Sting and DANCE WITH US from P. Diddy, Brandy on vocals and rising young rapper Bow Wow.
With other tracks from The Pretenders and Angelique Kidjo amongst others this is certainly an entertaining album worth listening to and is a very complimentary soundtrack to THE WILD THORNBERRYS MOVIE that it accompanies.
