Album Review by EDF The 1980’s will live forever. To prove the point, EMI have re-released the Kajagoogoo back catalogue for those of us that want to relive the days of dodgy hair, shoulder pads and make-up, usually worn by both sexes. Kajagoogoo burst onto the scene in early 1983 with a ridiculously catchy Music Review by Neil Sadler This forgettable song sounds like the Corrs. The mixes are worse, they sound like Stock Aitken and Waterman. Karen Louise has a decent enough voice and seems lovely and bubbly in her video, but this is a bland, over-produced concoction sung with little conviction. Hailing from Nullarbor Plain in rural Australia, Kasey has spent year’s writing songs before recording an album and it seems to have paid off as THE CAPTAIN has gone Platinum and she’s receive numerous industry awards there. Messenger OVERDRIVE is the debut single from Katy Rose and is taken from her forthcoming album BECAUSE I CAN and is also featured in the movie THIRTEEN. I have to admit that when I received the four track album sampler from the record company that I’m reviewing the single Single Review by Nigel A. Messenger Kawala’s HUMANISTIC is an interesting mix of Hip Hop, electronics and country guitar with George (female) on vocals. There’s also a sneaky sample from the Simple Minds track NEW GOLD DREAM. The single features mixes from Souled Out, Nylon and Futurebreeze. The Souled Out mix gives the track Album Review by EDF The follow up to 1997’s release DRAG finds K.D. Lang in fine voice. Each track is classic K.D. Lang showcasing different sides of ‘that voice’. The songs themselves are unfortunately a different matter depending what it is your looking for. While her previous release DRAG had smoking as its theme, Album Review by EDF One of the promotional tools that major record companies do not action is the release of compilation albums featuring artists that are on their roster. This is something that some of the smaller indie companies can proceed with and at times the results can be quite refreshing. Two companies in Single Review by Mark Bayross Continuing the line from Lauryn Hill to Mel B of solo black singers fusing soul and hip-hop to “take the power back”, we have 20 year old Kelis, the latest r n’ b sensation to grace MTV. This is the first single taken from her debut album KALEIDOSCOPE and Single Review by Nigel A. Messenger Another unique track from Kelis this is a hear it once and you like it, hear it again and you can’t stop listening to it. Kelis has got a big future if she keeps turning out this kind of music.
