Single Review by Mark Bayross
The second single from Polly Paulusma’s debut album SCISSORS IN MY POCKET is one of that record’s stand-out tracks as it sees her kick the smoky-folky-jazz vibe up a gear and deliver more of a rolling in the aisles singalong. Yes, it may evoke the sound of Radio 2 circa 1976 but at least it’s a fun listen.
B-sides TWO STARS and LEAVE YOUR KEYS return more to the whisper-and-acoustic-strum territory of the album. Pleasant enough, but far from memorable.
Still, Polly has just been asked to support Bob Dylan so a glittering career must only be a (whispered) breath away. Best of luck to her.
