Single Review by Mark Bayross
As the shareholders of Friends Reunited will tell you, nostalgia is big business at the moment, and as the current generation of thirtysomethings spend their hard-earned reminiscing to escape the humdrum reality of responsible adulthood, this zeitgeist-grabbing tune will make the perfect soundtrack.
As a fellow “70s baby, early 80s child”, I can’t fail to smile along to a track that name-checks the Miner’s Strike, RAMBO, Raleigh Grifters and CRACKAJACK, as Leigh Kenny of LSK rhymes mellifluously over George Evelyn’s shuffling dancehall reggae.
Backing the single is a remix by RJD2, as well as a mix featuring contributions from the current who’s who of the UK hip-hop scene – Roots Manuva, Rodney P and Tozz 180 – but the real attraction is that nostalgic summery vibe.
