Mo Solid Gold’s latest single is a tricky record to assess. I can’t quite decide if I like it or not.
In the band’s favour is the fact that they have performed storming live sets supporting legends like James Brown. What’s more, one listen to the three songs here and you can’t fail to feel their passion for their craft.
On the other hand however, the band name just screams “punch me”, they have supported (and thereby furthered the existence of) the execrable Ocean Colour Scene and all that toe-tapping Hammond organ is just a bit too Toploader-meets-the-Stones for my liking.
Well, that’s helped me make up my mind…
