Album Review by Nigel A. Messenger
MAYBE BABY is an original soundtrack album featuring music from and inspired by the film of the same name.
Following on the hot trail of cool British films Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral, MAYBE BABY theme is romance and reproduction.
Written and directed by one of Britain’s most creative comedic talents Ben Elton and produced by Phil McIntyre, MAYBE BABY is the story of Sam (Hugh Laurie) and Lucy (Joely Richardson), an irresistible couple who seem to have everything – fantastic careers, an enthusiastic love life and good looks. Yet for all their trying they are unable to have the one thing they really want – a baby.
Bringing together some of Britain’s most celebrated faces of comedy and drama alongside exciting new British talent, MAYBE BABY is a sparkling romantic comedy that takes us on a journey about life and the quest to create it.
This soundtrack contains songs from various genres of music including a stunning new recording of MAYBE BABY by Paul McCartney (exclusive to this album), tracks by chart toppers Westlife, Melanie C, Lene Marlin and Atomic Kitten along with songs from George Michael, Elvis Costello and Madness and chart toppers Madison Avenue.
Listening to MAYBE BABY is like listening to a current hits album with a couple of instantly recognisable oldies thrown in. If you like chart music you’ll be pleased with the album. You don’t even have to have seen the movie to enjoy it.
