Album Review by Nigel A. Messenger
Anyone who hasn’t heard the first single release from FEVER by now must never watch TV or listen to their radio. CAN’T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD is probably the most appropriately named track ever written. It’s catchy beat is sure fire number one material but what about the rest of the album it’s taken from? Are there more number one’s here or is this a lone gem in a sea of rubbish?
Well the sea of rubbish may contain a few of the current chart artists songs but there’s nothing bad about FEVER. It’s an excellent pop/dance album. Ok, that single – CAN’T GET YOU OUT OF MY HEAD is the most addictive track but there is also a lot of other good stuff here.
There are quite a few 70’s disco influenced songs but they’re only 70’s influenced, they belong in 2001. What links all the tracks however is a strong dance beat that goes right through the album.
It would be a real challenge to try and guess the next single release so I don’t think I’ll try and that fact in itself speaks reams about how enjoyable this album is.
I hate to think of Xmas in October but this is bound to be one of the first stocking fillers to hit the checkouts. Now if only I could get Kylie to give me a personal performance, that would be a memorable early Xmas gift!
