Named after legendary singer Karen Carpenter, Karen Louise was born to sing, and sing she does on her dazzling new single ‘Falling’, released on Starfisch Records on 25 June. 25-year-old Karen Louise battled ME through her teenage years but with her gusty determination and feisty spirit worthy of Bette Midler she has since fought her way back to good health and beyond.
At 22 having released her debut dance single, Karen Louise performed at Europride in Manchester and London’s Heaven where the diva came to life, propelling her to new musical heights – “the crowd was huge and the reaction was fantastic. At that point I knew for sure that the place I am most at home, where I truly belong, is on stage. When I step out into the lights and start to sing something happens, something magical.”
The slammin’ Riff & Rays remixes have been picked up by club DJs across the country, entering the Music Week pop charts at #30 and looks set to build over the coming weeks as Karen Louise goes on the road and continues with her live PA’s.
Karen Louise: “Falling is about feeling good and having fun. It’s an anthem for anybody who has experienced the rush of falling in love, when your heart rules your head. And yes you might regret it later but in that moment it feels too good to worry, so you surrender to your passion. As a big fan of Disney films, I’m the first to hope for a fairytale ending but I haven’t found my happily ever after yet.”
Karen Louise joined X Factor finalists Journey South on their 38-date UK tour at the end of 2006 covering the country from Edinburgh to Brighton including a show at London’s prestigious Hammersmith Apollo. Following on from the success of this tour she has just confirmed to support former Blue member Simon Webbe on his UK tour through May and June.
