GLOBAL SOUL features 13 tracks from artists across the globe, encompassing soul, hip hop and R&B, highlighting Putumayo World Music’s agenda to ”connect the traditional to the contemporary to create products that people love”.
Perhaps the most well-known contributor is 1 Giant Leap, whose BRAIDED HAIR features Neneh Cherry, Speech and Native American vocal group Ulalli, while other artists include Melgroove, Doc Gyneco and China from France, South Korean singer Tasha, Fernanda Abreu and Aricia Mess from Brazil, Senegalese band Saf Sap, Italian group Traccia Mista, German neo-soul diva Joy Denalane, French-Canadian singer Melanie Renaud, TID from Tanzania, and Cameroonian Kaïssa.
As its title suggests, this is a haven of mellow grooves and Latin rhythms in which to lose yourself from the stresses of modern life.
