Album Review by F Piralla
For those of you who don’t know, the Eurovision Song Contest was initiated by Frenchman Marcel Baison in 1950, with the idea of uniting Europe after World War II. The Italian San Remo Festival provided the model for the European Music Contest. It was first broadcast in 1956 and immediately became an institution.
The album contains 22 pop songs performed by representatives of the participating European countries (except Italy this time) most of them singing in their native language which makes it more interesting. The album features amongst others the already famous Liverpudlian Jemini for the UK and the Russian duo t.A.T.u. My personal number 1 prize goes to German Lou with her song LET’S GET HAPPY (for all WILL & GRACE fans: yes it’s the song used in the new promo). All in all it is a feel good album, which you will enjoy more if you are under 15. My guess is that it won’t be a chart topper but good luck to all the participants!
