Album Review by EDF
What do you put on a Billy Joel best of album that could spark the imagination when there already have been three volumes full of great tunes. This collection obviously reeks of record company greed, as Joel has had not had one piece of input with the songs selected. I mean for a best of called PIANO MAN and then to bury this classic tune as the fourth track shows no respect for the song or the material. Without even a hint of one man on a musical journey, these songs make no sense in the order that they are here.
As for the songs themselves, we are treated to classic tunes such as UPTOWN GIRL, JUST THE WAY YOU ARE and WE DIDN’T START THE FIRE. There is the strange inclusion of two lesser known songs which could easily be substituted for more stronger, emotional songs such as VIENNA and THE DOWNEASTER ALEXA This is not a bad collection to give somebody but they will thank you even more if you gave them the far superior three volume greatest hits collection.
