More joyous countrified-gospel-rock from the Nashville-via-Brixton collective that is Alabama 3. WADE INTO THE WATER demonstrates the band at their feelgood best – electrifying guitars, guest vocals from Eileen Rose and Bobby Valentino, and, of course, Larry Love’s faux-Yank croon.
The single is backed by live versions of the wonderful TOO SICK TO PRAY and SAD EYED LADY OF THE LOWLIFE, both recorded at the London Underworld during the band’s “Month Of Mondays” residency earlier this year.
While it’s great to have a couple of examples of the Alabama 3 live experience chronicled for posterity, they do serve to remind you how much of an irritant Dr D Wayne Love is with a microphone in his hand.
Nonetheless, a damn near essential single.
