Single Review by Mark Bayross
Hot on the heels of their “Month Of Mondays” residency at the Camden Underworld and a tour of the rest of the UK, everyone’s favourite Brixton-based preachermen are back to peddle more groove-laden swamp-blues in the form of latest single MANSION ON THE HILL.
Taken from their 2000 album LA PESTE, this acerbic swipe at the injustice and hypocrisy of capitalism has the potential to be nearly as big a hit as WOKE UP THIS MORNING.
Thrown into the deal are an extended, thumping techno remix by Arthur Baker, and SHAKE A TAILFEATHER, a song that also appeared in all its Johnny Cash-meets-Nick Cave glory on last single TOO SICK TO PRAY.
Three varied tracks that open a window onto the glorious musical collision that is Alabama 3.
