Fronted by singer/songwriter/producer/guitarist David Gledhill, Sheffield’s Slo-Mo are already starting to grab people’s attention, including that of legendary producer and Garbage drummer Butch Vig.
DEATH OF A RAVER is the band’s debut single, a swaggering dance-rock song in the vein of the Stereo MCs or the Happy Mondays, complete with a looped sample of Brazilian singer Astrid Gilberto and David Gledhill’s cynical lyrics about the pathetic self-destructiveness of drug-addled youth.
The song is backed by the similarly biting VIOLENT MISDEMEANORS, and by a dance remix of DEATH OF A RAVER by Dave Ball of Soft Cell, which, given the title and theme of the song, is presumably ironic.
