About 20 seconds after The Futureheads made it into the charts come Newcastle’s Maxïmo Park with a stormer of a follow up to their debut single APPLY SOME PRESSURE.
GRAFFITI comes racing out of the traps at you with everything – punked-up guitars, wailing organ, clattering beats and Paul Smith’s urgent and clever lyrics. “I’ll do graffiti if you’ll sing to me in French / what are we doing here if romance isn’t dead?” has all the hallmarks of a classic, defining couplet as this band go on to become huge.
