Music Review by Neil Sadler
The Kut are a four-girl suburban rock band from New Cross in London, currently gigging and recording their debut, LIES MY MOTHER TOLD ME. They claim their influence is alcohol, but you can hear everything from The Cure to The Specials in these fine demos.
Of the 3 tracks here, THE VISION is the strongest track, sensual beats and throbbing bass swirl around the sultry, hushed vocals of lead singer Maha. BROTHER is a slighter and less driven track but has a more radio-friendly hook and showcases a more commercial ear whilst DON’T WANT YOU is the most obviously Ska-influenced song.
The Kut have a strong, integrated sound and if the rest of the album is a good as these tracks should be leaving New Cross far behind very soon.
