If you are new to Hed Kandi, here is a brief history. For six years, Hed Kandi, which is comprised of a select number of DJs spinning some of the best house tunes around, have been packing them in at home and abroad. They have their own late night radio program on Saturday nights where they do not hold back on the dance tunes. From this, they have set up their own label to release themed compilations of those same top tracks. Now, they are celebrating their 50th CD release with this triple CD collection comprising of the best tunes from past to present.
The first CD is entitled the DISCO HEAVEN MIX and the tracks range from the soulful to Latin, all uplifting. The TWISTED DISCO MIX is a darker groovy, electronic offering. This is the all out late night mix that is the equivalent of leaving your foot on the accelerator for 70 minutes. The last disc is the BACK TO LOVE MIX, which will probably be the last outing for this title. Here we go back in time to when classic house was breaking into the mainstream.
Playing this or any Hed Kandi compilation is like having a party in your living room. Whether you are listening to this on your own or you’re holding a small social gathering, this set will set the tone for the rest of the night. Listening to these tracks all over again, this is the nearest to a best of Hed Kandi that you will ever get. If this is your first time, believe me when I say it won’t be your last.
