A swashbuckling tale of heroic feats is in store in this delightful and captivating movie as we follow the infamous rogue Sinbad on his latest exploits on the trail of the ‘Book of Peace’, which ensures peace throughout out the world. Sinbad (Brad Pitt) has no qualms about ramming his ship into Proteus’ (Joseph Fiennes) even though they’re childhood friends and launching an attack on the prince who is transporting the ‘Book of Peace’, a priceless treasure, back to his father the King. But Sinbad fails in his bid and follows Proteus’ ship and the book back to port.
However Eris (Michelle Pfeiffer), the goddess of chaos, has set her sights on stealing the Book for herself which she does and deftly frames Sinbad for the theft. Arrested, tried and sentenced to death Sinbad is outmanoeuvred by Eris but his friend Proteus trades places with the imprisoned Sinbad and lays his life on the line believing that Sinbad will retrieve the Book, restore peace and save his life before execution day.
Sinbad however has different plans and can’t believe his good fortune. He sets sail on the next tide with his trusty pirate crew and dog Spike not in search of the Book but for a fun time in the Fiji Islands. That is until Proteus’ betrothed, Marina (Catherine Zeta-Jones), who has stowed away on Sinbad’s ship, angrily challenges Sinbad on where his allegiances lie. She is determined that Proteus will live and coerces Sinbad into fulfilling this mission entrusted to him by Proteus but Eris is equally determined that Sinbad won’t succeed. Despatching monsters, storms and other pitfalls to harm and stop Sinbad finding the whereabouts of the Book, Eris uses her evil power to wreak havoc and keep it hidden.
SINBAD: LEGEND OF THE SEVEN SEAS is a thrilling and enthralling, action-packed animated movie with lots of sword fighting and an engrossing storyline packed with absorbing adventures. It’s full of twists and turns as Sinbad and Eris (with Marina’s help) battle it out as to who the victor will be. The animation is very fluid and captivating to watch backed up by a dramatic soundtrack from Harry Gregson-Williams.
A movie for all the family that will have adults and children alike totally immersed. This will definitely kick-start the kids’ summer break in the right direction. Mustn’t be missed.
