Lucas and Clementine live in a huge rambling house on the outskirts of Bucharest. Not surprisingly, the house is surrounded by woods and is miles from anyone or anything, lending an even more sinister air to the story.
They live what seems to be an idyllic life. She is a teacher at a French Lycee in Bucharest and he is a writer working from home.
One night however, everything is turned upside down. Strange noises in the house wake Clementine and the two of them go to investigate the intruders.
From that point on the movie has you at the edge of your seat.
You are whisked through a fearful rollercoaster of a ride throughout the night – never quite knowing who Clementine and Lucas are up against and what they want. The pace quickens and doesn’t let up.
Olivia Bonamy and Michael Cohen give absolutely excellent performances. Their fear seems palpable and you are transported into their nightmare, made even more real by the fact the movie is based on true events.
The musical score is outstanding and pulls the whole movie together into one of the best horror movies I’ve seen for a long time.
